Of fears and failures…

School was supposed to be a place where you learn about various lessons and teachings but you don’t.

You don’t learn anything until you are in the final year of school and there is an air of closing down. Because you know that there wont be a next year. So you just try to wrap up, to feel, to experience every moment every experience as if its your last.

The same happened with me. This is my last year of school and am just trying to hold on to every memories and every experience possible. And in order to do that I thought of participating in as many school programs as possible.

But going for the auditions was not easy for me. You see I have this anxiety problem where my whole body starts to give mixed signals – my hands starts to shake, my legs becomes slippery , my throat becomes dry and there is a constant throbbing in my head. But i faced all this problems and went for the auditions. And got selected.

Facing your fears is something which my school taught me ages ago but i got to use it this year. Often you will fail but the true taste of success comes through failure.

As Sharukh Khan said at Yale University,

“So I believe the true path to success is through the fear of failure. If you aren’t scared enough of failing, you are unlikely to succeed. It’s not pleasant to fail, it’s tough. All of us experience it. You will too if you haven’t already. So use it to succeed.”

You need to take chances. A lot of them. You will fail. Obviously. But don’t let that be an excuse for not trying. Because an ‘opps’ is better than a ‘what if’

“Don’t be afraid of being afraid, be afraid of not facing your fears and failures. Do not be afraid to defy conventions. Do not be afraid to destroy systems that kill art and your souls. Do not be afraid to be hungry. Do not be afraid to walk alone if necessary. Because on a tightrope we all walk alone.”
